The Lazaridis Institute for the Management of Technology Enterprises has a national mandate to help the next generation of Canadian technology companies scale into global leaders.

Created in 2015 with investments by Mike Lazaridis and the Government of Ontario, we support growth-oriented Canadian technology companies to scale and remain in Canada.

Our approach is hands on and practical. We are interested in the action of knowledge, applying what works in the real world, imparted by people who have lived the experience of scaling a successful, international company.

Our Impact

The Lazaridis Institute is focused on solving a specific national challenge – the need for more globally competitive technology companies in Canada. Our approach to this complex problem is three-fold:

Canadian Technology Companies

We support Canadian technology companies in reaching their next level of growth, through world-class programs like the Lazaridis Scale-Up Program, front line programs like the Tech Sales Apprenticeship, and a global network of business and technology experts who provide mentorship, connections and valuable experience.

Groundbreaking Research

We conduct insightful research, always looking to develop new knowledge about innovation, management and disruption as it relates to high growth technology companies.

Empowering Students

As part of the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University, we are creating direct links between international research, best practices in global scaling and curriculum to empower students with the knowledge they need to make a difference in emerging companies after they graduate.

The Lazaridis School of Business & Economics

The Lazaridis Institute is a proud part of the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics, one of the most prestigious and selective business schools in Canada. The Lazaridis School is located at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. This anchors us in one of Canada’s leading technology ecosystems: the Toronto-Waterloo Corridor.
